CFMA Houston is introducing The Martin P. Eckert Scholarship Program. Named after one of CFMA Houston founders and CFMA’s National Chairman 1988-1989, Martin P. Eckert Scholarship Fund is established to promote the further education and career advancement of individuals pursuing careers in accounting and construction or a construction related industry. The goal of the Martin P. Eckert Scholarship is to increase student awareness of CFMA and careers in the construction industry. 


The scholarship is intended for full or part-time students with a graduate or undergraduate degree plan in accounting, business (construction emphasis), engineering, construction management, or architecture, or successful completion of Certified Construction Industry Finance Professional (CCIFP) exam.  All candidates who apply by the deadline and meet the minimum requirements specified in the instructions are eligible for scholarships.  This scholarship fund is an investment in the field of construction, and in the greater Houston area.  They provide CFMA members, their families and other promising construction professionals with financial assistance while completing their studies

Members of the CFMA Houston Chapter are eligible for a scholarship program to encourage participation in preparing for and obtaining the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (CCIFP) certification. The CCIFP designation is designed to enhance professional credibility, increase knowledge in construction field, and provide objective verification of knowledge. CCIFP Study Group

Become a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional!

The Houston Chapter Education Committee is forming a CCIFP Study Group to provide information about the exam in addition to tips for studying and focused sessions on topics. We will schedule the meetings after speaking with those interested so that we can try to accommodate for availability. It won't be necessary to attend every meeting, so feel free to join at any time.

About Andrew:

  • Born and raised in Houston Texas.
  • Double Major in Architecture and Business Administration at TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY.
  • He will graduate in May 2023
  • After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, Andrew plans to continue his education in graduate school to earn his Master of Architecture and MBA.
  • Andrew will then go on to take his ARE exam to achieve his license in architecture in Texas.
  • Andrew plans to open his own architectural firm and specialize in building pool natatoriums and HOA clubhouses.
  • Andrew interned for one of CFMA Houston member companies, Progressive Commercial Aquatics, which gave him creative decisions and experience in pool design and clubhouses.

About Noah:

  • Born and raised in Houston Texas.
  • Construction Management Major at COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY
  • He will graduate in May 2023
  • When Noah was young, he wanted to become a police officer like his dad but got interested in construction in high school. He loves outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing, and was always inspired by fixing and building things outdoors. He loved helping his dad with small building projects.
  • Noah spent some time with a project manager of one of our CFMA member companies, Karsten Interior Services. He visited their job site and learned about managing projects, budgeting, project deadlines, and other responsibilities of a Construction Project Manager. That experience inspired him to pursue his degree in Construction Project Management.
  • After graduating, Noah plans on returning to Houston and start his career in Construction.


About Madison:

  • Born and raised in Houston Texas.
  • Integrated Bachelor and Master of Accounting program at BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY.
  • He will graduate in April 2022
  • Madison gained an interest in business and accounting from her Dad and long time CFMA member, Bruce Tate, who is a Director of Rick Management at Tellepsen.
  • She quickly realized that accounting plays to her strengths of thinking critically, paying attention to detail, and communicating effectively with others. She knew that accounting would provide many career opportunities and give her the best base to be able to do anything within business.
  • Madison’s professional goal is to become Certified Public Accountant and return to Houston.
  • She interned with KPMG past summer and plans for work in public accounting for several years. After she gains experience in public accounting, she plans on pursuing career in construction industry.
