CFMA Houston is introducing The Martin P. Eckert Scholarship Program. Named after one of CFMA Houston founders and CFMA’s National Chairman 1988-1989, Martin P. Eckert Scholarship Fund is established to promote the further education and career advancement of individuals pursuing careers in accounting and construction or a construction related industry. The goal of the Martin P. Eckert Scholarship is to increase student awareness of CFMA and careers in the construction industry. 

 

The scholarship is intended for full or part-time students with a graduate or undergraduate degree plan in accounting, business (construction emphasis), engineering, construction management, or architecture, or successful completion of Certified Construction Industry Finance Professional (CCIFP) exam.  All candidates who apply by the deadline and meet the minimum requirements specified in the instructions are eligible for scholarships.  This scholarship fund is an investment in the field of construction, and in the greater Houston area.  They provide CFMA members, their families and other promising construction professionals with financial assistance while completing their studies

Members of the CFMA Houston Chapter are eligible for a scholarship program to encourage participation in preparing for and obtaining the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (CCIFP) certification. The CCIFP designation is designed to enhance professional credibility, increase knowledge in construction field, and provide objective verification of knowledge. CCIFP Study Group

Become a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional!

The Houston Chapter Education Committee is forming a CCIFP Study Group to provide information about the exam in addition to tips for studying and focused sessions on topics. We will schedule the meetings after speaking with those interested so that we can try to accommodate for availability. It won't be necessary to attend every meeting, so feel free to join at any time.

About Jillian:

 

Jillian Trahan was born and raised in League City Texas where she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Clear Springs High School in 2021. She is currently studying at Auburn University where she is pursuing a degree in civil engineering with a concentration in construction. She is active in her church college group and enjoys many activities throughout the week. She is an avid Auburn sports fan and became a member of the Jungle in support of the men's Auburn Tigers basketball team. She plans to graduate in 2025 and search for a career with an organization where she can learn and become reputable in her field.

About John Henry:

 

John Henry Donnelly was born and raised in Houston, Texas where he has lived all his life until going to the University of Oklahoma where he is currently majoring in Construction Science. He is also working towards earning minors in Business as well as Entrepreneurship and Real Estate Development. Through involvement in school and college, he has just recently been elected as the President of the Construction Student Association.

John Henry has always enjoyed doing activities that involve building and fixing things. From home repairs to organizing the building of a educational bird blind for his Eagle Scout project, the concept of construction has always fascinated him. Having worked multiple internships for several Houston construction companies, he is becoming fluent in the skills and logic paths needed for his future career in Construction Management, which he plans to do after graduating in 2024.

About Heaven-Lee Acosta:

 

Heaven-Lee Acosta is a first-generation college student. She is currently a senior at the University of Houston majoring in Construction Management with a minor in business, graduating in fall of 2023. She is Vice President of Cougars for Women in Construction a school organization that empowers women in the industry. She enjoy singing mariachi music as a hobby and have traveled to both Disney World and Disney Land to perform. In her free time she likes to volunteer on non-profit organizations, attend church, listen to varieties of music, and travel with her family and my dog Kash.
