Course Description
This course will provide the financial management essentials of the construction business to project leaders and non-financial managers to enable them to track and interpret the financials throughout the lifecycle of a construction project.  The content covers detailed elements for financial tracking, monitoring, communicating and adjusting as the construction project evolves while carefully balancing budget and forecasting financials.  The objective of this course is to provide nonfinancial construction managers with a solid understanding of the essential financial aspects of managing any project in order to ensure its successful conclusion.

Caryl_Picture.jpgCaryl Coronis, CPA - NBG Constructors

Caryl Coronis, CPA, CCIFP, currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of NBG Constructors, a heavy highway company specializing in bridges. She formerly held the position of Vice President of Finance and Administration at OpenTech, a dynamic building controls company, and served as Executive Vice President and CFO of BIO Landscape & Maintenance, Inc., where she was responsible for the company’s strategic initiatives, information technology and human resources.

A member of CFMA since 2006, Caryl previously served as Chairman of the Financial Survey & Benchmarker Committee, President of the Houston Chapter and Conference Director of the Lone Star Regional Conference. She is currently on the national Executive Committee and Conference Program Task Force, has developed content for CFMA education programs, and is a champion for the CCIFP and Young Professionals programs for the Houston Chapter.  She continues to be a tireless volunteer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Family_Christmas_2013.jpgSanela Minica is a Controller at M.P.G. Pipeline Contractors. Sanela has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry.  She also has broad experience in all areas of project accounting, including revenue recognition, WIP schedule, project costing and forecasting, project billing, and contract risk assessment. Sanela also has diverse experience is system implementation, process improvements and procedural development.  She has specially experience with the pipeline construction industry and government defense contracts.  Sanela worked in six different countries for a multi-national corporation and has extensive experience in personnel management, financial reporting and contract compliance.

She holds an MBA from the Tarleton State University, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Zagreb in Croatia and a CCIFP certification. Sanela is a Board member and a current Treasurer of the CFMA Houston Chapter.
