New Opportunities in 2020 for Construction Tax Incentives

Recent legislation responding to COVID-19 has opened opportunities for businesses to claim tax credits and incentives previously unavailable or underutilized. Businesses are using the CARES Act and other regulatory guidance to claim refunds, save money, and increase cash flow. This session will focus on high-value specialty tax incentives for the construction industry, how they can be leveraged with recent legislation and regulatory guidance, and what is needed to maximize their benefit.

  • 179D Energy Efficient Tax Deductions for Government Building Projects
  • R&D Tax Credits for the Construction Industry

Eligibility, court cases, examples, and recent tax controversy issues will all be reviewed.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will understand how recent legislation in response to COVID-19 has opened opportunities for claiming tax credits and incentives.

Participants will understand some of the activities, projects, and taxpayers eligible for 45L Tax Credits, 179D Tax Deductions, and R&D Tax Credits.

Participants will be able to celebrate a few positive outcomes for the construction industry from recent court cases and IRS guidance
